First Interview of 2026

I had my first interview of the year recently. It was for a mid-level backend role. Here's what happened and what I'm taking from it. How I got there I'd seen the job post and shared a project I'd built (REEN) with the CEO. He was interested and asked for my LinkedIn and resume. That led to the interview. A couple of days before, I asked if there was anything he'd recommend I prepare. He said initial interviews are mainly about testing your understanding. I assumed most questions would be about my project, so I geared my preparation that way. What actually happened The interview was scheduled for 30 minutes; he'd said that if I made it to the end, I'd move to the next stage. I didn't—I only lasted about 15 minutes. The CEO and COO were professional and serious. I admired that. The CEO in particular came across as someone who's not only into software but also hardware; I noticed some robotics setup in the background. I think I felt a bit intim...

Preparation Stage Complete

I'm excited to share that I've completed the preparation stage of my job search journey! It's been a busy period of updates, improvements, and getting everything in order. What I've Accomplished Project Documentation : I revamped 5 out of 6 of my pinned GitHub projects with well-documented READMEs. This was crucial—I wanted to make sure anyone viewing my projects could quickly understand what each one does, how to set it up, and what technologies were used. Good documentation shows attention to detail and makes a strong impression. Profile Updates : I've updated my resume, LinkedIn profile, and GitHub profile to reflect my current skills, experience, and projects. Everything is now aligned and tells a cohesive story about who I am as an engineer. Clarity on Goals : I've taken time to really think through what I'm looking for in my next role. Having that clarity upfront will help me target the right opportunities and ask the right questions durin...

reStarting My Job Search Journey

I've tried this several times before...starting a job search, getting organized, putting myself out there. Each time, I wasn't successful. But here I am again, and this time feels different. I'm following the structured getting hired course (for the severalth time...lol), and I'm approaching it with renewed determination. I know the process, I know what needs to be done, and I'm ready to commit fully to making this work. To kick things off, I've updated all my profiles: LinkedIn, GitHub, Resume, and this portfolio website. I know I might need to reupdate these in the near future as I learn more about what works and what doesn't, but that's all part of the process. It's going to be tough...there's no sugarcoating that. The job market is competitive, rejections are inevitable, and the journey can be mentally draining. But I'm reminding myself that it's going to be worth it. Every application, every interview, every piece of feedback...
